Amazing race day today! Ran a 2 mile shake out before driving to the meet. Ran 2 miles warm up and did drills and strides before starting. I was nervous because it was the first race with all the competition. The first lap I got out and took control of the race. My goal was to beat the record and I needed a fast first 1600 to be close. The first 800 there was a group close behind, but I slowly separated from them. My first 1600 was 5:11 and that was cutting it close. Laps 5 and 6 were the hardest mentally to push through. I had pulled away from the group and was pushing by myself which was hard. But when I saw I was still on pace to break the record and hearing the crowd cheering I could pull through. With one lap to go, the time was 9:08 and I knew I needed to kick hard to pull it off. I was close to lapping girls so I focused on passing which helped me to kick hard and finish strong. And I did it! A 10:22- PR and new state record! I felt really good after my race and was so happy. Ran a 6 mile cool down with Bill and Abigail. Later ran 2 more miles and took a 15 minute ice bath.

Another crazy race day today. Ran 2 mile shake out and sat around at the meet waiting to run. Ran 3 miles warm up, drills and strides and back on the track to race with the same girls. My goal was to break the record but I knew this race would be much closer than the 3200. I took control and led for the first 3 laps. At the 800 and 1200 I was off by 3 seconds of where I wanted to be time wise. I could see on the screen the tight pack of 5 and I was running scared. On the gun lap, a girl moved in first and I didn't react quick enough. When I did, another girl slid into second so I was pushing with her and the lead girl gapped us by a stride or two. I ran the last lap pushing so hard and raced all the way to the finish. I was 3rd and less than a second behind the first girl. I was disappointed that I let 2 girls slip past me but it was a learning experience so I will be ready for state. I won the athlete of the meet award and ran the fastest 9 mile cool down ever- just to finally finish. It was a lot of track this weekend, but very memorable and I am excited for state!

3 mile morning shake out run. You know it's a rough day when Bill calls in two pacers for workout... I ran 6 800's and I am SO glad the pacers were there. I didn't run with my watch, so I don't know how fast I was going. But by the third one I was just hanging on to the other person's stride, not able to run it on my own. It was a brutal workout but I am grateful for those who helped.

Day 2 of regions- raced the 3200 first. I gapped the group within the first few laps and was pushing by myself. There was wind to go against and I did not feel good. I ran slower than I wanted, but finished first. I raced 400 finals and finished 6th with a 63. Then to finish I won the 800, with my usual time of 2:22. It is weird to think that was my last time racing on East's track!

We went for an easy run through the U campus, up Virginia Street and back the Legacy Bridge way. My legs felt pretty dead and tired from racing.

Speed workout- we ran 3 sets of 500, 100 jog and 200 sprint. Tomy was running the same pace as me which helped SO much. It hurt but I was right where I needed to be. Ran 3 later that night.

Day 1 of state- I can't believe it is already the end of the season, and my last time running at state! I ran 2 miles shake out before getting on the bus. The 1600 race was at the beginning of the meet and the bus got there as they were calling final call. I did a few strides then did a lot of drills while waiting in the bull pen. Then the race. I took the lead at the end of the first curve and focused on staying on the INSIDE of the lane, ha. I can't remember my lap splits but I was so nervous and running scared. I had no idea how close the next girl was but I knew she would be close and kicking to pass me. I started to pick up the pace with 500 to go, and still had the lead at the gun lap. I was running scared and didn't react just like at BYU. Before the 200 a girl passes me and took the lead. I swung to her right as we headed down the home stretch. I was so close and gave it my all to get ahead, but she was doing the same. About 10 meters before the finish line, my stride was off and I stumbled and was pretty sure I was going to fall and not finish, but I recovered and finished. I was second by .18 of a second. I gave it my all to fight, but I wish I could have been more confident when I did have the lead. I ran 3 miles cool down and a mile later. My legs felt pretty good after my race until later in the afternoon.

Day 2 of state. The 3200 was very first and I had more time for a warm up. I ran 2 miles shake out then 2 miles warm up. The 3200 has been my stronger race even though I don't like running the 8 laps. I felt much more confident going into this race and knew I had a state record in my name to defend. I took the lead at the beginning and went out fast, trying to set a new record. But I definitely was not as fresh or rested as BYU invite. I gapped the group pretty well, but it was hard for me to push alone. My 1600 was 5:12, slower than I wanted. I tried to pick it up, but I was stuck in a slower pace. The last 1,000 my team started yelling that a girl in the group was making a move and broke from the group. That's when I remembered to race- no matter how far ahead I was, I had no idea how strong they were coming. I finished first with a 10:31. My legs were killing me, but I finally a state title and my record still remained. I never thought I could be first in state in any event! I ran a cool down then sat around all afternoon until the 800. This was my first time this season racing the 800. I have never really liked it but I haven't raced it that much. I had a horrible start, but finished 4th with a new PR of 2:18. I was relieved to be done with state- I was so nervous for my races but happy with how I did.

I have missed trail runs and XC! Today Tomy, Dakota, Gavin and I drove up Millcreek to run on Pipeline trail. That trail reminds me of XC and it is my favorite trail. Tomy and I ran out 4 and back. I was so stiff and sore from state.

JCC trail today. I forgot all the uphill on that trail. My legs felt even worse than yesterday and I was pretty slow the whole way.

Speed workout- I met with a group to run at Granite High track. I ran 3 sets of 4 400's with minute recovery between 400's and a lap recovery between sets. It helped to have other people to push with. I was slower by the end of the sets- I ran 2 69's, a 74 but most were 71-72. It really pushed me hard and was a good workout.

Ran at the beach today. Ran 2 miles barefoot on the sand, which killed my legs. My

Garmin died a mile into my run, so I ran back and forth on the paved walkway above the beach to get 9.

Speed workout on my own was pretty bad. I ran to a high school track about 1.5 miles away from my hotel. I ran a mile then 10 200's. It did not feel easier at a lower elevation and my legs were sore and tired. I was pushing but couldn't pop out of my slow zone because I was by myself-I had no one to chase and no one was chasing me. 15 hours of walking around at Disneyland didn't help my legs recover either...

3 miles in the morning before school. Then a speed workout- a mile, 2 800's and 4 400's. Tomy and Chris helped pace me. I struggled to make it through the workout. My legs hurt, I wanted to puke and my lungs and chest were really tight. I don't know if it is coming back to elevation or spending a weekend on a bus but it was a brutal workout. It helped to have the boys to chase but I did not feel good. I was happy when it was over.

3 miles in the morning. Ran to Liberty and did a 4 mile tempo. Tomy was with me for the first two miles, then I was on my own. I was supposed to hit 6:15 and I finished with a 6:08 average. It hurt and I was tired but it was good for me to push by myself for the last half.
