Day 2 of state. The 3200 was very first and I had more time for a warm up. I ran 2 miles shake out then 2 miles warm up. The 3200 has been my stronger race even though I don't like running the 8 laps. I felt much more confident going into this race and knew I had a state record in my name to defend. I took the lead at the beginning and went out fast, trying to set a new record. But I definitely was not as fresh or rested as BYU invite. I gapped the group pretty well, but it was hard for me to push alone. My 1600 was 5:12, slower than I wanted. I tried to pick it up, but I was stuck in a slower pace. The last 1,000 my team started yelling that a girl in the group was making a move and broke from the group. That's when I remembered to race- no matter how far ahead I was, I had no idea how strong they were coming. I finished first with a 10:31. My legs were killing me, but I finally a state title and my record still remained. I never thought I could be first in state in any event! I ran a cool down then sat around all afternoon until the 800. This was my first time this season racing the 800. I have never really liked it but I haven't raced it that much. I had a horrible start, but finished 4th with a new PR of 2:18. I was relieved to be done with state- I was so nervous for my races but happy with how I did.

I was really happy to see you had won the 3200 after the close finish in the 1600. Congrats on THREE fantastic races. You knocked the state meet triple out of the park!

Amazing season. So what's next - are you running any postseason meets? Nationals or anything like that?

Thanks! Yes I am going to Great Southwest again this weekend, and New Balance Nationals later in June.
