Mizuno Wave Rider 15 #2 Miles: 53.00 |
|
| | Speed workout- 2 sets of 200, 800, 400, 200, 200, 200. First set felt good but the second 800 and 400 were hard to push through. My second 8 was 3 seconds slower than my first but the 200's felt good. My calves felt way sore from Saturday and our cool down was really slow. Did my crunches and push ups. |

BYU Invitational 2012 (2 Miles) 00:10:22, Place overall: 1 | | Amazing race day today! Ran a 2 mile shake out before driving to the meet. Ran 2 miles warm up and did drills and strides before starting. I was nervous because it was the first race with all the competition. The first lap I got out and took control of the race. My goal was to beat the record and I needed a fast first 1600 to be close. The first 800 there was a group close behind, but I slowly separated from them. My first 1600 was 5:11 and that was cutting it close. Laps 5 and 6 were the hardest mentally to push through. I had pulled away from the group and was pushing by myself which was hard. But when I saw I was still on pace to break the record and hearing the crowd cheering I could pull through. With one lap to go, the time was 9:08 and I knew I needed to kick hard to pull it off. I was close to lapping girls so I focused on passing which helped me to kick hard and finish strong. And I did it! A 10:22- PR and new state record! I felt really good after my race and was so happy. Ran a 6 mile cool down with Bill and Abigail. Later ran 2 more miles and took a 15 minute ice bath. |

BYU Invitational 2012 (1 Miles) 00:04:51, Place overall: 3 | | Another crazy race day today. Ran 2 mile shake out and sat around at the meet waiting to run. Ran 3 miles warm up, drills and strides and back on the track to race with the same girls. My goal was to break the record but I knew this race would be much closer than the 3200. I took control and led for the first 3 laps. At the 800 and 1200 I was off by 3 seconds of where I wanted to be time wise. I could see on the screen the tight pack of 5 and I was running scared. On the gun lap, a girl moved in first and I didn't react quick enough. When I did, another girl slid into second so I was pushing with her and the lead girl gapped us by a stride or two. I ran the last lap pushing so hard and raced all the way to the finish. I was 3rd and less than a second behind the first girl. I was disappointed that I let 2 girls slip past me but it was a learning experience so I will be ready for state. I won the athlete of the meet award and ran the fastest 9 mile cool down ever- just to finally finish. It was a lot of track this weekend, but very memorable and I am excited for state! |
