Simplot day 1-I was so glad my race was before the mile. I ran 2 miles warm up, stretched, then 1 more mile. I had plenty of time for a lot of drills and strides. I was in the first of three heats. One girl took the lead the first few laps and I just stuck on her shoulder. My goal was to run 42's and thats what I focused on. After a few laps I took the lead and took it one lap at a time. A couple times a girl tried to pass me but I took the lead again. I kicked the last 400 hard so I wouldn't get caught and finished first. My mile time was 5:38 and I finished with 11:08. My splits were pretty even which I was happy with. I felt pretty good during the race and happy about it. I ran 4 miles cooldown and then cheered everyone else. |
