A.M.- a rough track workout. We started with an all out mile.... yes surprise! And it was pretty much the worst and not all out. I started out fine but then my body just went straight to the paces I have been running (80's etc) and no matter how I tried I could not pick it up (and I was by myself). I ran 5:18 and everyone else was pretty off too. Next was 2x800 at 3K pace. I ran the same pace as the mile and ran 2:40 for both. Then we finished with 3x400.... fast. I ran 74, 73 and 70. It was a challenging workout and if I had heard it all at the beginning, I would not have made it through.

P.M. I had to run another 6

It was a rough Saturday long run and workout to finish my first week back at 70 in over a year. We went to Murdock Trail for a 8 mile threhold/tempo. (an in between the two pace type workout... we haven't done this before) We ran 2 miles warm up then began. The first 4 miles were great. I hit 6:20 consecutively and felt strong and good. As soon as we turned half way through it just went downhill from there. We were running against the wind and it was uphill on the way back. My body was exhausted and no matter how hard I tried, it would not give more. I felt so drained in every muscle and bone of my body. Mentally it was a battle and it was the most challenging and difficult run I have had in a very long time. I ended up averaging 6:33 by the end and just about collapsed when finished. It was brutal. Happy high mileage weeks.
