Another rainy, windy, cold region race, just like last year! I ran 2 miles warm up on the course with the JV boys, then another 1.5 with the varsity girls. We had just enough time to change shoes and sprint to the start before they began. I got out quick, but for the first time there were several girls sticking on me. We were going into the wind which was hard, but we soon changed direction. I wasn't able to get some sort of gap on the girls until coming up Bessie for the first time. I knew I had to push hard to keep my spot in the race. I could hear Abigail right behind me and that kept me going hard. Going up Bessie the last time and my final kick were all out. My legs were ok, it was my lungs that were hurting the most. I was so happy when Abigail was 2nd, and Sarah was 3rd! It was so cool. Unfortunately Woods Cross had places 3-7, so they beat us by a couple points. But we get to go to state with the boys team. I wasn't too thrilled about my time, but this race was about place, not time. I did a mile cooldown.
